Green light for highway speed rise

John Ross Highway speed limit will soon rise to 100km/h

THE provincial Department of Transport has approved a request to raise the speed limit on the John Ross Parkway.

This good news for commuters was announced at a meeting of the John Ross Parkway Upgrade Project Liaison Committee meeting on Thursday.

Brian Henwood of lead consultants Henwood & Nxumalo reported that, once budget for signage and other requirements was sourced, the new speed limits would be introduced.

When the entire road build is completed, the following limits will be enforced:

• N2 to Oilco robots – 80km/h

• N2 to Billiton Bridge robots – 100km/h

• Billiton Bridge robots to East Central Arterial (CBD robots) – 80km/h

• East Central Arterial to Meerensee (Greenhills intersection) – 80km/h.
