THE body of a man was discovered by pedestrians near Mtubatuba’s John Ross Highway.
The gruesome find was reported to police this morning at about 7am.
The body was lying in a ditch about five metres from a pool of blood on the embankment along the highway.
SAPS Communications Officer, Lieutenant Mpontshane, confirmed an obvious blow to the head, however, it was too early to confirm the cause of death, as the body was still being processed.
The crowd of onlookers grew as SAPS officers attempted to keep them on the opposite side of the road, away from the crime scene.
No motive has been established and no suspect has been arrested.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
