Erratic timing of robots causes congestion

I SEE the uMhlathuze Municipality has decided, in their infinite wisdom, to once again fix something that is not broken.

The traffic lights along Bullion Boulevard have been fiddled/tampered with and the timing has been set so erratic that it takes double the time to navigate down this road to get to Veldenvlei.

With a little research, I have been informed that the municipality has decided to bring in another traffic light control system that takes control away from the local technicians at the municipality, who mind you, have been doing a sterling job until now.

Now my question is this, it’s all fine and well ‘upgrading’ but surely this can only be suggested or accepted if the new system is an improvement, not so?

Or possibly ‘they’ are in such a hurry to spend money that any excuse will do to ‘blow’ the budget.

Surely whoever is in charge of the ‘new’ system should at least know the basics of trying to assist in the flow of traffic and not make it worse?

The congestion caused is leading to rows and rows of cars being backed-up in early morning and afternoon traffic, not to mention the frustration that it’s causing among the drivers and the increase in accidents along Bullion Boulevard.

I mean seriously, this is the main road, surely somebody must have thought about this before ‘they’ set the timing?

Apparently the system is intelligent, well computers only do what they are told.

Maybe the intelligence of the ‘master’ should be considered/challenged.

Please, this letter is an appeal for the powers that be to attend to this problem.

I have made numerous calls to the local authorities, but to no avail.
