THIS year the ‘young at heart’ Crocs showed the rest of the uMhlathuze Athletic Club what running is all about.
Three Master category (age 50-59) runners were the first club members to cross the finishing line of the Ultimate Human Race – the 89th Comrades Marathon.
Sixty three athletes of the uMhlathuze Athletics Club registered to take on the challenge of the 89,28km ‘down’ route from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
Finishing in a time of 7.38.52, Willie Shabalala was the first Croc over the line with Thomas Mthembu (8.04.37) and Brian Lamb (8.38.10) second and third respectively.
In the women’s race, Glenda Badenhorst (10.09.34), Trish Winterboer (10.30.21) and Cathy Brown (10.43.57) were the first Croc’ette’s to complete the race.
