Science gurus explore nanotechnology

Nanotechnology public engagement programme available in Richards Bay

NANOTECHNOLOGY (the branch of technology that deals with dimensions and tolerances

of less than 100 nanometres, especially the manipulation of individual

atoms and molecules) was the topic when science communicators from across the country met at Unizulu Science Centre (USC) in Richards Bay last week for a workshop.

Aimed at raising awareness of nanotechnology among the public and to stimulate nanotechnology among pupils and schools, the event was hosted in collaboration with South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA).

During the session, participants explored examples of nanotechnology in everyday life and discussed the potential impact of nanotechnology in the future.

The Unizulu Science Centre will be running a nanotechnology programme until July. Those interested can phone 035 7973204 for more information.
