WHEN reading the Eyethu Bay Watch of 28 May regarding the letters ‘Bad driver behaviour’ and ‘Reckless truck drivers’, I was pleased to see somebody opened their mouths about this sensitive issue.

On the route I travel every day to work and back, there are many occasions where the instructors appear tio be teaching students to jump stop signs and robots.

Some have the patience to c-r-a-w-l along the road and sit for almost five minutes at a stop sign before they cross, and then the car stalls with pull-off anyway.

I’ve come across the traffic officials on the route I travel, sitting at the wrong spot to catch the culprits.

What should be done is the instructors should be checked on a regular basis to ensure the proper procedures take place.

There are far too many driving schools in Richards Bay, with I’m not sure how many qualified instructors.

I feel that unnecessary roadblocks should be less and more attention should be paid to the ‘bad habits’ of traffic officials.

How many of them drive around, jumping stop signs and robots, parking in ‘no parking’ areas and don’t forget not wearing safety belts?

Traffic rules are for everyone, not just the public!

If everyone drives the way they should and supposed to, then we won’t have so many accidents and disregard for other drivers in South Africa.

As for taxi drivers, they should be banned completely, they are the cause of many accidents.

After the publication of Tamlyn’s article on the illegal parking, loitering and drinking in public article, in fact on the very same day, a counsellor who drives a Mercedes was seen parked under a tree, next to a no parking sign having a nice beer with friends. Maybe Mtubatuba should fire all current counsellors and have new votes that way we won’t have the Mercedes drinker in public and the blue bakkie lady counsellor driving the wrong way down the 1-way street telling the traffic officers to get lost as they work for her therefore she can do as she pleases.
