Two maidens arrive at Bay port

Richards Bay Coal Terminal welcomes 'maiden' ships for first time in almost two years.

TWO ships were received at the Richards Bay Coal Terminal berths yesterday as they ended their maiden voyages safe and sound.

‘RBCT, which coordinated the loading of 658 vessels in 2013, has not seen a maiden voyage since August 2012,’ said the terminal in a statement.

‘We are pleased to have the Indian Partnership and MV Leopold select RBCT as their first port of call.’

In welcoming the bulk coal carriers, the terminal and the vessels’ shipping agents Panargo and Rennies handed over commemorative gifts to the ships’ captains.

Leopold was loaded with more than 165 000 tonnes of coal before it headed off to Israel and Indian Partnership is carrying 155 000 tonnes of coal to India.
