AROUND this time of year, we are bombarded with empty promises from all political parties.

Some of it materialises while most of the time, it is just an electioneering tool to lure us.

But if politicians really want our vote, this is what should have been done.

Why is our town not maintained?

Should I do an inventory of the number of potholes on the town’s roads or the many curbs not cleaned?

Why is the uMhlathuze Sports Complex not maintained?

The state-of-the-art athletics track is lined with overgrown grass and the toilets are almost never cleaned.

This complex was the pride of the town, always neatly kept. However, this is not the case anymore.

Overgrown grass lining the streets of suburbs should be cut. A letter should not be written to beg you to cut the grass.

How about upgrading the local fire station and ensuring our disaster management teams are adequately equipped to respond to any emergency?

When our traffic lights are not operational, why are there no traffic officials on duty directing motorists?

I think it is also time to implement some of those bylaws collecting dust on our shelves.

Conduct regular health inspections and those flouting the law should face the full might of the law.

Those disturbing the peace and causing noise pollution after hours should be held accountable.

If you really want our vote, do all of the above.

We are results driven. Don’t expect a vote when you can’t deliver.

PATRIOTIC VOTER
