A SMARTLY dressed 29-year-old woman was caught red-handed trying to smuggle out stolen clothing, hidden in a secret compartment of her bag, at the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre.
Clothing worth R3 500 from six different clothing stores was found in the the lining of her handbag.
The day’s ‘pickings’ included shoes, accessories and clothing for women and children.
The woman was spotted on camera by shop security guard Ntombi Mthiyane when she was putting items into the compartment in her bag.
The guard then approached the woman and she was taken to the staff room for searching and questioning.
The store manager told the Zululand Observer that the woman did not resist, but lied about her identity. Her real name and age was later discovered when her identity document was found in the bag.
No formal charges were laid at the police station.

it’s quite a sad shameful crime she committed but not me or u can judge the lady,we might never know the reasons that persuaded her into shoplifting. It could be for a good cause but she couldn’t afford it or for a bad cause to satisfy bad addictions but then again let God be the Judge.im a little happy that no charges were made, atleast she got to go home to her family.hopefully she wouldn’t plan a greater heist through means of learning from her mistakes, hopefully she’s not going to try that again.
