Form book battle looms for Thanda

Tough task as Thanda face Jomo Cosmos

IT looks like being a case of the proverbial ‘irresistible force meeting the immovable object’ when Thanda Royal Zulu FC host the powerful Jomo Cosmos outfit at 3pm this Saturday at the uMhlathuze Stadium.

The game will feature the two on-form sides of the National First Division in what promises to be an absorbing encounter the fans will not want to miss.

Thanda, who have found the back of the net in every single match they have played this season, will be looking to make it 10 straight undefeated games in a magnificent streak that has seen them spring well clear of any relegation fears.

On the other hand, Cosmos are unbeaten in their last eight outings, and the team with the most miserly defence in the league, has kept a clean sheet in five of those games.

‘Unfortunately we are without Mhlengi Cele, who is serving the last of his three-game suspension after being shown the red card, but we have more than enough fire power to put the ball past Jomo Cosmos,’ said Thanda general manager, Thabani Gumede.

The Amabhubesi are playing with the confidence of knowing they can take on and beat the best the league has to offer.

What a pity it took half the season to find the right combinations and style.

Had they started the way they are performing now, we would have been looking at possible league leaders.

But ‘what if’s’ don’t matter much and they don’t put points on the board, so it will have to be another solid Saturday act that could in fact seriously dent the visitors’ PSL promotion bid.

It’s going to be a tough one but there’s no reason Thanda can’t emerge with three more points.
