AFTER attacking a woman in her KwaMbonambi store, bold robbers were later apprehended after boarding the same bus as the victim.
Thulani Mncube (24) and Sipho Ngcobo (28) of eNseleni were arrested, charged and appeared at the KwaMbonambi Magistrate’s Court last week for armed and business robbery. The case was remanded until today (Tuesday) for bail application.
During late March, the victim was in her shop, Thubeni Store at Kwa-Mbonambi, when a man carrying a small silver firearm came in, pointed the firearm at her and instructed her not to move.
The woman shouted for help, but another man appeared and demanded money, cellphones, alcohol and airtime vouchers.
‘According to a statement by the victim, the men then opened a litre of coke and quenched their thirsts while the traumatised and scared woman stood and watched,’ said Lieutenant Aubrey Msane.
Later that day, the victim, boarding a bus to Richards Bay, noticed the same two men seated at the back of the bus.
‘She contacted an off-duty policeman who alerted police and they managed to stop the bus in Kwa-Mbonambi near the police station.
‘The men fled, but police gave chase and apprehended them. They were found in possession of the stolen items,’ said Msane.
