eShowe lift trophy

Johnny Foxcroft from the Green Bottle Ballies played his 40th Bozas Cup.

ESHOWE Rugby Club and hosts of the Flya Sportswear Bozas Cup lifted the trophy after beating last year’s champs, Drifters, in a tight final which they won 13-10.

The Drifters scored two unconverted tries to eShowe’s two penalties and a converted try.

Unfortunately, Ladysmith withdrew at the last minute and a game Hluhluwe formed the basis of a ‘Barbarian’ team with spare players from other teams and they performed very well in the tournament.

One of the many highlights was the playing of his 40th Bozas Cup by Johnny Foxcroft from the Green Bottle Ballies.

He celebrated his 64th birthday on Friday and played in his 40th Bozas Cup on Saturday.

Flya Sportswear gave him a commemorative jersey, his team gave him a jacket and the eShowe Rugby Club presented him with a medal recording the event.

Another highlight was the inaugural meeting of eShowe Rugby Club Old Boys which saw over 60 former players and members present.

The meeting was organised by Paul Nunan and will become an anuual event, the night before Bozas Cup.

Flya sportswear manufacturers’ Barry Neville also announced that the company has committed their support for three years.

The winning Bozas Cup team won 23 jerseys, pants, socks and tracksuits donated by Flya.

Runners-up received 23 jerseys, pants and socks, while the Plate winners received 23 jerseys and pants and the Bowl winners 23 jerseys.
