uThungulu charge into T20 finals
McCarthy Toyota uThungulu claimed two wins to reach the 20/20 Premier Division finals
THE McCarthy Toyota uThungulu side had a brilliant day at the office this weekend, when beating both Southern Natal and DHS Rhythm in a Premier Division T20 encounter.
After these two victories, the local side will head into the finals unbeaten on 5 April at Sahara Kingsmead in Durban. Their opponents are still to be decided, depending on the outcomes of matches still to be played.
Saturday saw uThungulu claim a six-wicket victory over Southern Natal at Addison Park in Empangeni.
The home side won the toss and sent the visitors to the crease.
Jaraid Khan 17 and Morné Bishop 15 helped their side to disappointing 87/9, with spinner Stephan Joubert 3/6 and pace man Karl Marais 2/19 doing most of the damage.
Needing just 4.35 runs per over with a strong batting line-up, the home side reached the total with a loss of four wickets.
Captain Eugene Zwart lead from the front with 33 not out and was supported by all-rounder Neil Jordan who smashed a fast 30 not out.
The home side ended on 90/4, with Yugeshin Pillay ending with bowling figures of 2/9 in four overs.

The uThungulu side then traveled up to Durban on Sunday morning to take on DHS Rhythm at DHS Old Boys.
The home side batted first and were dismissed for 96, with spinner Angus Kramer 3/23 and Trevor Kietzmann 3/17 taking wickets for uThungulu.
The local lads smashed 102/4 to claim a six-wicket victory.
Joubert 37, Simon Savides 19 not out and Zwart 18 not out got their side over the line.
With the side’s current T20 form and dominating the league, hopes of claiming the title will be on all the players minds.
