New crèche delights children

Despite the rain, many parents came out to show their appreciation.

PARENTS of toddlers from Ward 8 in Ntambanana were ecstatic as a safe and functional crèche officially opened its doors on Thursday.

Zululand Observer’s Do I Care Enough (DICE) organisation, in conjunction with Umfolozi Hotel Casino Convention Resort, sponsored the 24-square metre crèche with three toilets to the value of R90 000.

The crèche was built out of light steel by RH Construction and took a day to complete.

With a great need for a crèche in the community, Inkosi Cebekhulu and Induna Mkhize of Ward 8 gladly gave permission for DICE and Umfolozi Casino to go ahead with the building of the crèche.

Equipped with colourful chairs, tables, plastic cups, plates and educational material, children in this remote area now have access to a safe haven during the day.

Despite the rain, many parents came through to show their appreciation and along with their children were provided hot dog rolls and juices.

‘Going forward, we would like to find sponsors for a Jojo Tank and pipes to provide water for the children as well as fencing around the crèche’, said DICE representative Linda Zeelie.
