
GINGINDLOVU police have arrested three robbery suspects and recovered property valued at around R60 000.
This follows a series of incidents, the first at Dokodweni near Gingindlovu on 21 December last year when a woman was awoken by a loud knock on the door of her house.
She was confronted by three mmen, who robbed her of her cash, property and was raped by one of the suspects.
A case of house robbery and rape was opened at the Gingindlovu SAPS.
The following day at around midnight a security guard at one of the farms in the area was held up at gunpoint by five men.
The security guard was tied up and guarded while the rest of the group helped themselves to power tools and accessories to the value of around R40 000.
The suspects then fled the scene and a case of business robbery was opened.
On Friday, 14 February, W/O Bambithambo Shandu received information from an informer regarding the two cases.
He, accompanied by Sgt Indhiran Govender and Sgt Genas Moodley, followed up on the information.
During their investigations, three suspects were arrested and property believed to have been stolen was recovered.
Five other suspects escaped arrest and are on the run.
The three suspects appeared in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court and have been remanded in custody for further investigation.
The suspects have also been linked to other cases reported to the Nyoni police.
Gingindlovu Station Commander Lt Col Mfaseni Khumalo commended the members for their good police work.
