I AM writing as a concerned citizen of the uMhlathuze Local Municipality.
My concern is about the R34 road between the Qalakabusha Correctional Centre and the intersection robots to Ngwelezane and Empangeni.
My worry is that some cars at the intersection have a tendency to stop anywhere along the road and that soon there could be a serious car accident.
This state of affairs is complicated by heavy trucks that so often either go through this intersection or stop to pick up hitch-hikers.
The road and intersection is narrow and does not allow for cars, taxis or trucks to stop for passengers.
This matter needs to be urgently addressed by the uMhlathuze authorities, to avoid possible loss of human life and damage to cars.
The R34 road is a national road, and not a township road.
Cars that use this intersection have no other way out of Empangeni, Richards Bay and Ngwelezane.
uMhlathuze Municipal traffic officers need to take a serious view of this situation, to ensure that possible human loss and damage to vehicles are avoided.
