FOLLOWING recent turbulent times, Mtubatuba Municipality’s newly appointed administrator is celebrating some improvements while addressing other areas of concern.
One month into the job, Bamba Ndwandwe has addressed many challenges and is in the process of implementing a number of important changes.
A handful of new managers have been appointed to key positions in order to ensure Ndwandwe’s advised changes are implemented and upheld.
New managers include Thuli Mpontshane, Housing Manager; Mbuso Dlamini, Manager of Infrastructure Operations, and Mduduzi Mahlinza, Mayoral and Communications Manager.
Siyabonga Ntuli, Mtubatuba’s Municipal Manager, agreed that the strengthening of their team is important in order to address critical issues.
Ntuli said that a Communications Manager serves as a vital link between the municipality and communities within the Mtubatuba Municipal area.
When the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government intervened, Mtubatuba Municipality was sitting on a disclaimer audit for the 2011/12 financial year.
A year later, however, the Auditor General awarded Mtubatuba with a qualified audit, a marked improvement.
Over the next nine months, many changes will be made to the running of key divisions within the municipality.
Close attention is being paid to the financial viability of service delivery and the sustainability of service delivery.
It is Ndwandwe’s goal to leave Mtubatuba Municipality with a ‘structured expenditure pattern’ at the end of his contract in September.
