ON a daily basis I have the hair-raising experience of having to drive around two traffic circles on the way to work and everyday, I say a pray just before I do.
The reason for this unusual behaviour is because a large percentage of motorists do not know how to use a traffic circle correctly.
It amazes me! I wonder if they have possibly removed that section out of the driver’s licence exam?
A few days ago, I was almost crashed into when a motorist in a black Fiesta drove over a solid white line to exit the circle without using his indicator.
The municipality must be aware of the problem because at the turn-off for the University of Zululand on the R102, they have build islands which divide the inner circle from the outer one.
Unfortunately, that still does not help since I have seen a number of cars just drive straight over them to exit the circle. Unbelievable!
Then this morning (Friday 15 February) on my way to work, at the same circle, three cars had managed to drive into one another.
To all motorists out there please drive defensively and watch out for the drivers who seem to have had a lobotomy recently.
