WHILE it was with much relief to all parties concerned that power was restored to allow RBCT to resume their operations at the weekend (ZO, 10 February), the matter must not be allowed to be swept under the carpet.

One assumes that the cause of the mess will indeed by ‘hotly investigated’ and the findings made public.

In fact, there should be no delay and investigations should be treated as urgent.

Considering the fact that loss to the coal industry comes to R2-billion, coupled with the damage to our City’s reputation, those responsible for the lack of proper maintenance to the port electricity supply should be identified and taken to task.

Imagine any manager in the corporate or industrial workplace being responsible for the loss of billions because of negligence. He or she will be fired with extreme prejudice.

So we await the outcome with interest.
