HERE is some breaking motoring news for you; Aston Martin has recalled 17 590 Vanquish models because the Chinese company making the accelerator pedals, used… wait for it… ‘counterfeit plastics’!

Well, apparently we thought wrong.
Even though a Vanguish will set you back more than R2-million, you will see bits with ‘Made in China’ stamped on it lying all over the place, after your accelerator pedal disintegrated and you crashed into a tree.
Not so long ago, as Aston Martin celebrated it’s centenary, CEO Ulrich Bez said of the car: ‘The Aston Martin range is stronger now than at any time in our 100-year history’.
It seems he was not referring to the vehicles’ built quality, but the company’s bank balance.
In its defense, Aston Martin Lagonda Limited claims to have been unaware that recycled 2-litre Coke bottles are being used to make accelerator pedals.
But even so, Astons are marketed as the pinnacle of English motoring, and therefore should be kept English at all costs.
