Zululand tennis aces selected
The team will represent Zululand at the KZN Inter-District Tournament next month
TENNIS players tried to ace their fellow competitors on Saturday in the hopes of being selected for the Zululand side at the Zululand High School Tennis Trials.
The trials was held at three different venues: Richards Bay Country Club (U19 boys), Richards Bay High School (U15 and U19 girls) and Grantleigh (U15 boys).
Players rallied it out in a round robin system of nine games each to see who would get selected.
Competitors from Empangeni, Richards Bay, Pongola, Mpoza and eShowe attended the trials.
After a very hot and long day of sweating it out, a team was selected to represent Zululand at the KZN Inter-District Tournament (KZN Trials) in Pietermaritzburg from 6 to 9 March.

U15 Girls – Ila Geyser (Grantleigh College), Lara Dedekind (Pongola Akademie), Lene van As (Richards Bay High School) and Michelle Frenzel (St Catherine’s School)
U15 Boys – Gunther Kelling (Grantleigh College), Rikus Boshoff (Pongola Akademie), Albero Els (Grantleigh College) and Sashen Naidoo (Grantleigh College)
U19 Girls – Andrea Boshoff (Pongola Akademie), Danica Nel (Grantleigh College), Lara Fourie (Richards Bay High School) and Carina Walters (Richards Bay High School)
U19 Boys – Peter Cloete (Grantleigh College), Gerduan Lotz (Grantleigh College), Michiel Cok (Pongola Akademie) and Tino Makoni (Grantleigh College)
