AN EMPANGENI trolley-pusher was stabbed to death in the parking area at Biyela Centre on Thursday night.
The economic recession, it seems, has also affected the ‘trolley pushers’ who fight for customers and this resulted in a 24-year-old man being murdered following an altercation concerning business.
Adjacent to Jwayelani Store, a group of seven men got into an argument leading to a physical fight in which Thabani Sithole of Mevamhlope was stabbed to death.
According to police reports, the men worked at Sanlam Centre as ‘trolley-pushers’.
‘It is believed that Sithole had been hogging all the customers and, as a result, infuriated his fellow workers.
It led to an argument and the six men stabbed him to death,’ said Empangeni SAPS Spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose.
‘Sithole, bleeding, ran up to Main Road near Ellerines Furniture Store where officers from the Empangeni station, who were doing patrols ,attended to him and called an ambulance,’ said Mdlalose.
‘However, a few minutes later, Sithole passed away,’
‘He had stab wounds all over his body and blood had been pouring out everywhere,’ said Mdlalose.
A case of murder has been opened at the Empangeni SAPS and no arrests have been made thus far.
Shuuu!! Its really sad,how can a fully minded person kill just for R3-R5 for pushing trolleys? It is painfull and all retailers must employ people to help pushing trolleys and one must be permitted to push the trolleys at the particular store.employed people must be in position of uniform and safety vest so that the customers will be aware.i use to pass by jwayelani empangeni those guys are really trouble and they are rude,disrespect!!!!
