THE prevention of stock theft remains a challenge, especially under the current Covid-19 lockdown conditions, but the Ulundi cluster stock theft task team and Ngome police carried out an anti-stock theft operation in the Nkangala area on Sunday and retrieved five cattle.
They followed up on information received after the cattle were stolen at a Ngome farm four weeks ago.
Searching in dense bushes the team found the animals tied to trees. The owner was contacted and he positively identified his stock.
A 19-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for stock theft and was remanded in custody in the Vryheid Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
