Fast times at qualification gala

Fly like a butterfly

SWIMMERS shot out of the blocks on Saturday at the last Northern KwaZulu-Natal Age Group gala for the season, hosted by uShaka Swimming Club at the Arboretum town pool.

This gala provided swimmers a last chance to qualify for the upcoming Level gala’s, resulting in some fast times being recorded as participants left everything in the pool.

The Level 1 gala will take place in Bloemfontein from 28-30 March.

This gala is for individuals aged 10-16 who have qualified over the season and now aim at qualifying for Level 2 next season.

The Level 2 gala takes place in Sasolburg from 20-23 March for ages 11-18 years where participants who have qualified will aim to qualify for Level 3 next season.

The Level 3 gala (top junior gala in South Africa) will take place in Cape Town from 13-17 March for ages 12-18 years, where swimmers will aim at qualifying for the Youth and Senior National gala.

For those who qualify for the Youth and Senior gala, will compete in Durban from 12-17 April.

To get swimming back into schools, there will be district trials for High School pupils on Saturday 1 March at the Arboretum town pool starting at 9am, followed by the Primary School trials on Saturday 8 March at the same venue starting at 9am.

A team will be selected to go compete in Durban for KZN colours at the end of March.

Any schools needing further details can contact Shirley Davidson on 076 7548948.
