Food parcel drive makes a big difference for Richards Bay communities

Organisers would like to assist with a distribution of another 150 food parcels and are appealing to the community for more donations

A COMMUNITY food drive spearheaded by City of uMhlathuze Ward 26 civic administrators, councillor Leslie Joseph and ward committee welfare portfolio member Jasper Yenkiah, has seen 170 food hampers being distributed to residents of Aquadene and Brackenham since the beginning of the national lockdown.

Supported by generous local businesses and community members, the drive provided much-needed food supplies to needy families, the unemployed and those affected by a loss of income.

Organisers would like to assist with a distribution of another 150 food parcels and are appealing to the community for more donations.
