Traffic operations beefed up for long weekend

LAW enforcement authorities will beef up operations during the Easter long weekend to ensure that motorists adhere to the lockdown regulations.
KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison, Bheki Ntuli said during this time of year, traffic volumes traditionally peak as a high number of vehicles move in and out of the province; but with the national lockdown no vehicles are permitted cross province boundaries.

‘There will be no Easter weekend church services, no mass gatherings and any other large gatherings are strictly prohibited during the national lockdown.
‘Inter-provincial movement is prohibited, and we have intensified our law enforcement operations and roadblocks at major entry and exit points into our province and in busy routes to ensure that there is absolutely no unnecessary movement of vehicles.
‘Citizens must adhere to the lockdown regulations or face serious consequences,’ warned MEC Ntuli.
‘If you are not an essential service worker or transporting essential goods you must stay at home.’
