uMlalazi mayor out on virus patrol

The work included assisting the elderly and disabled people, as well as spreading information about the virus

TO help curb the spread of the coronavirus, the uMlalazi Municipality leadership, led by Mayor Thelumoya Zulu, last week enforced regulations at all social grant pay points in eShowe and Gingindlovu.

The work included assisting the elderly and disabled people, as well as spreading information about the virus.

Zulu ensured that grant recipients were paid out quickly to prevent them having to spend hours in long queues.

He further helped sanitise all surfaces at pay points and walked around the taxi rank to ensure commuters adhered to the regulations imposed by the president.

‘One of the problems we faced was that people brought children with them. We appeal to them to leave their children at home because they might not understand the seriousness of the virus. People should also remember to stick to social distancing at payout points,’ said Zulu.
