Executives urged to donate towards struggling communities
The NFP's secretary general, Canaan Mdletshe, said the party calls on each of the executive members to adopt at least one disadvantaged area and ensure it has the necessary resources to fight the spread of the virus

THE National Freedom Party (NFP) has urged all ministers, deputy ministers, premiers, members of executive councils (MECs) and mayors to donate half of their salaries to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
The party’s secretary general, Canaan Mdletshe, said the party calls on each of the executive members to adopt at least one disadvantaged area and ensure it has the necessary resources to fight the spread of the virus.
‘If each disadvantaged voting district can have enough water, sanitisers and masks for residents, we can significantly mitigate the spread.
‘We further urge our leaders to ensure that each household has enough food to last them for the 21-day period.
Mdletshe encouraged all South Africans to stay indoors.
