VIDEO: Empangeni couple gets married just before lockdown

Quick decisions had to be made - postpone or go radical and bring everything a day forward to beat the Thursday midnight deadline

Empangeni couple Nico Ndlazi and Fikile Ntsele faced a serious dilemma when President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the national lockdown on Monday night.

All arrangements for their special wedding day in Mtunzini was in place.

The only problem was that the auspicious occasion was booked for Friday.

Quick decisions had to be made – postpone or go radical and bring everything a day forward to beat the Thursday midnight deadline.

The latter was decided upon and despite some hectic manoeuvres to save the day and an impromptu photo session in a resident’s garden, the wedding and reception was concluded in the Mtunzni Town Hall in nick of time.
