7-year-old Mtubatuba girl dies after hit by bakkie

A seven-year-old girl from Emaswazini Reserve in Mtubatuba, Banele Zondo, was killed on Monday when she was hit by a bakkie when she tried to cross the road.
The girl’s father, Sibusiso Mbuyazi, said his daughter was part of a group of children fetching water from the nearby river.

‘She was at the back of the group when they crossed the R618 road and was knocked down by the bakkie.’
Banele was in Grade 2 at Nomaganga Primary School in Hlabisa.
KwaMsane police spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, confirmed the incident and said a case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation.
