Community encouraged to maintain emotional wellness

LifeLine Zululand Director Michelle Jewlal said while the organisation has attended to community members who had experienced increased anxiety and fear over the outbreak

COMING to terms with the coronavirus outbreak and minimising anxiety and stress, LifeLine Zululand urge residents to intensify their hygiene controls and safety precautions, including exercising social distancing, but to use social media platforms to stay connected.

LifeLine Zululand Director Michelle Jewlal said while the organisation has attended to community members who had experienced increased anxiety and fear over the outbreak, they have encouraged them not to compromise on their emotional wellness or go into complete isolation, but maintain relationships and connections telephonically or via social media.

‘For some, the changes over the last few weeks with regards to school closures, work adjustments and travel changes, have come as a shock and increased panic,’ Jewlal said.

‘At LifeLine we have also introduced safety precautions for our team. Fieldwork and community engagements have been suspended at this time,’ she said.
