Female rapper aiming for the top
Local female hip hop artist gets recording deal
SINGING her way to the top is Empangeni born talented hip hop artist, actress and performer Nontu Xulu.
She recently signed her first recording deal with the top recording company Impilo Records, and is a favourite of well known Dj Webster.
She was raised in a musical family. Her father is a university music professor so it was no surprise she revealed a talent for music as a teenager.
After following in her father’s footsteps and studying musical theatre at Tshwane University, she later worked with top South African musicians on several television, radio programmes and theatrical plays.
Later she fulfilled her dream of being a recording artist by releasing her first single, ‘Every girl loves a rapper’, featuring female rapper Nadia Nakai.
The talented songbird said she aims to put her small town on the map with her music, and represent her region.
‘It is all for my community, to show others that dreams do come true. I hope to positively represent my area everywhere I go,” said the bubbly vocalist.
