POLICE have arrested two men for contravening the Disaster Management Act regulations on Sunday at KwaSomkhele, outside KwaMsane.
Police visited various liquor outlets in the area to monitor whether the new regulations were being adhered to.
uMkhanyakude District Police spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, said when police arrived at one of the outlets, they discovered it was already closed, but people were busy drinking outside.
‘When the police tried to dispense the group of people, two men became confrontational and the police overpowered and arrested them.
‘People must know that we are here to enforce the law and those who do not want to comply will suffer the consequences,’ Mdletshe said.
