Friday: Kick the habit and get your life back. Drug and alcohol awareness evening at Shalom Lighthouse on Addison Street in Empangeni at 6:30pm. For more information phone 084 5813137.

Saturday: Richards Bay Baptist Church is hosting a fun run/walk fund-raiser from 7am to 10am, catering for all fitness levels and all ages. The route is a 2,5km lap in close proximity to the church at 5 Rooibosrand, Arboretum and will not cross any main roads. For registration information contact sian@rbbc.org.za or phone 063 3286245.

Thursday, 19 Mar: International recording  artist Andrew Young, featuring Paul Williams on keyboard, will take centre stage at the Umfolozi Casino Resort’s Sugar Room from 7pm.  Tickets are available at the cash desk for R120 as well as online at Quicket. For more information call 035 7878208.

 

Friday, 27 Mar:  Playwright and actor Wellington Makwakwa will, for the last time, narrate his childhood story ‘Gogo’s Boy – The Last Bow’ at the Bon Hotel in Empangeni. This also serves as a fund-raiser for his annual project which supports an orphanage and pensioners. Friday, 27 Mar: Prepare for a night of hilarity when comedians take centre stage at the Blacklisted Comedy Show at the Umfolozi Casino Resort in Empangeni at 7:30pm
The line-up of comedians will include Sihle Mthethwa, Mfanafuthi Ngema, Church Boy, Ndlebe, Nonto R and Justice Kubheka. Tickets from R160 available at Web Tickets.

Saturday, 28 Mar: Family Care’s ‘Cowboys and Crooks’ ‘sokkie’ dance fund-raiser from 6.30pm at Richards Bay Primary. Buckle up your boots, bring your own cooler and snacks, and get ready to have a jol. Tickets are R100 per person, or book a table of 10 for R1 000. Local stars Daniel Hoffmann and Michelle Jooste will provide the evening’s musical entertainment. To RSVP, contact Terrynne on 072 7403710 by 25 March.
