Welcome donation for seniors club outside eSikhaleni
A doctor was also present to conduct tests for high blood pressure, diabetes and other related illnesses
ELDERLY people must receive special care and protection as they have proved to be the backbone of society.
This sentiment was expressed by the ANC’s Abe Mthenjana branch chairperson, Sikhumbuzo Mabaso.
He was speaking at KwaNdaya Reserve (Ward 22) outside eSikhaleni, where he and a delegation of branch members visited the KwaNdaya Senior Citizens Club to hand over a donation of a new sewing machine, a supply of incema grass and other items.
A doctor was also present to conduct tests for high blood pressure, diabetes and other related illnesses.
‘As a caring organisation, we approached well known businessman Sphelele Qwabe to sponsor the resources we are handing to you today,’ Mabaso said.
‘We are inspired by the work you do here and saw the need to lend a hand.’
KwaNdaya Senior Citizens Club chairperson, Ntombenhle Vilakazi, praised the branch for not forgetting the elderly.
‘We are grateful for the donation. When we established this club in 1997, we never knew it would grow this big,’ she said.
