CONVICTED murderer Nhlanhla Mhlongo has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing Sundumbili SAPS Admin Clerk, Gareth Toohey in January last year.
Mhlongo was also sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for robbery, five years for malicious damage to property and five years for kidnapping.
The sentences in the Mtubatuba High Court last Tuesday came after the court heard how Toohey (38) was kidnapped and brutally murdered.

Toohey was kidnapped on 22 January last year, and his burnt-out car and body were recovered in a sugar cane field in the Nyoni area the following day.
Police investigations determined that Toohey was assaulted with a hammer and stabbed with a screwdriver before being set alight.
He was also robbed of R200 in cash that was taken from his wallet. The money was used to buy petrol at a service station to set him and his car on fire.
