TWO murder cases have been added to the charge sheet of a 37-year-old former school teacher who stands accused of abducting and killing a 12-year-old boy in Manguzi in October.
This after the accused’s shocking confession in court that he also killed two other young boys in 2016 and 2018.
Zwelakhe Cele appeared in the Manguzi Magistrate’s Court last Monday, where he explained how he killed Nonikela Primary School Grade 6 pupil, Lwazi Tembe.
Lwazi disappeared after he told his parents he was going to visit Cele.
His parents began to panic when they discovered that their son’s phone was on voicemail and Cele denied inviting Tembe to his home.
Later his parents received a SMS from their son’s phone, demanding R5 000 for his release.
The missing person’s docket at the Manguzi police station was converted to kidnapping and transferred to the Jozini Family Violence and Child Protection Unit for investigation.
During his court appearance, Cele also confessed to killing Sifundo Nkwanyana (13) in April, 2018. Nkwanyana went missing after he had gone for a haircut.
His body was found four days later.
Cele further confessed to killing his first victim, Sizwe Mlambo (12), in September, 2016. The deceased body was found dumped near the Manguzi Post Office.
Cele was remanded in police custody and is expected to re-appear at the same court on Monday, 17 February.
