Sergeant Sithole (38), who works at the Empangeni detective branch, was allegedly caught after one of his victims reported him at the eSikhawini SAPS for robbing them of cash and a cell phone while using a marked police vehicle

AN Empangeni cop will have to face the music after he was nabbed on a charge of robbery last week.

Sergeant Sithole (38), who works at the Empangeni detective branch, was allegedly caught after one of his victims reported him at the eSikhawini SAPS for robbing them of cash and a cell phone while using a marked police vehicle.

King Cetshwayo cluster spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose confirmed the arrest, stating that the officer appeared in court last week and his case was remanded to next month for bail.

‘The victim reported that he stopped them and pretended as if he was going to arrest them. He then asked them for cash. He was arrested on 22 December.

Sithole is currently at a private hospital under police guard after he reportedly fell ill soon after he was arrested.’
