Arrested Ilembe suspect possibly linked to murder cases

AN intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Ilembe Task Team, Umhlali SAPS and K9 Unit, led to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect who might be linked to two murder cases in Umhlali.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, said police went to a house at Nkobongo in Shakaskraal last week where the man was arrested for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

‘He will be profiled to check if he is linked to other robbery cases reported in the Ilembe cluster and surrounding areas. Our investigations are still ongoing,’ Mbhele said.
