Fun Christmas activities to try out

If you’re looking for some fun holiday activities that will be truly memorable for all the family members, then here are some good options to try this year

THE Christmas holidays can be very long for parents and children, but it’s important to make use of this special time while the children are young.

If you’re looking for some fun holiday activities that will be truly memorable for all the family members, then here are some good options to try this year.

Make a Christmas wreath

This will include a fun family walk before getting down to the crafting. During your walk, look for branches, twigs and pine cones to use when making your wreath.

You will then need either a foam or ring wire (you can bend a metal coat hanger if it’s easier) and then weave the branches or twigs around the ring.

This can be decorated with ornaments or bows.

Christmas charades or Pictionary

Brainstorm some Christmas-related activities or movies and then organise a game of Christmas charades with family and friends.

Alternatively, you can take turns in drawing the described items for some Christmas-themed Pictionary.

Popcorn garlands

Make a bowl of popcorn, get some needle and thread, and create some popcorn garlands with the kids. These can then be spray painted in a variety of colours and placed on the tree or around the house for some festive decor.

Movie time

If it’s a rainy December day – or just too hot to go outside – why not chill out in the lounge and take turns picking out the ultimate Christmas movie. You could also spread this out in the build-up to Christmas, getting everyone into the festive spirit.

Christmas cookie decorating

A delicious and fun activity for the whole family. Bake some cookies using your preferred recipe and then get the table ready with icing, sprinkles and other edible toppings. These delectable Christmas treats could also be placed in a pretty tin and given to family members as a holiday gift.

Make Christmas ornaments

Get some paper, polystyrene or glass balls as well as glitter and an assortment of fun decor items and let the kids create their own Christmas ornaments. These can be personalised with things like hand prints or photos.
