A MOZAMBICAN national has appeared in court in Pongola after he was nabbed with more than R2.7-million worth of drugs.
Soares Alfredo (40) briefly appeared in the Pongola Magistrate’s Court last week on charges of drug dealing.
Following a tip-off, a joint operation involving the Richards Bay Hawks Organised Crime unit, Pretoria Crime Intelligence and Jozini and Pongola police members, led to the arrest after they intercepted Alfredo’s vehicle on the N2 en route from Mozambique to Gauteng.
Four bags of crystal methamphetamine (Tik) with a street value of about R2.7-million were found concealed in the spare wheel.
He was remanded in custody and will re-appear on 11 December for legal representation.
