Community to collect firearm certificates

Police emphasised that the carrying of a firearm without a licence was prohibited

EMPANGENI police have appealed to community members who applied for firearm licences between January 2018 and October 2019 to collect their certificates immediately.

Police emphasised that the carrying of a firearm without a licence was prohibited.

King Cetshwayo Cluster Police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, said failing to comply with the firearm’s act was a criminal offence.

‘There are many certificates or competency cards which need to be collected. We appeal to community members to collect their documents before they are sent back to the office of the national commissioner.’

Mdlalose urged all applicants to collect their documents at office 7 at the Empangeni police station, or to phone
035 9015842/3 and ask for Sergeant Sthembiso Ngiba.
