WATCH: Forest cobra caught at Richards Bay factory

The snake was released at a safe location

SNAKE season is in full swing, and for ‘Fearless Fred’ Lubbe, Monday morning started off with the removal of a Forest Cobra from a factory in Alton.

‘I got a call from a fellow snake catcher who asked if I could assist with a snake rescue at the factory as he was not able to attend,’ said Fred.

‘He said it sounded like a Python by the way the guy described it – a large brown snake.’

On arrival at the factory, Fred found the snake to be a 1.8m Forest Cobra which weighed a whopping 1.6kg.

Fred said the snake was in prime condition.

After a bit of hide ‘n seek, Fred caught the snake and released it at a safe spot where it had access to much food, water and shelter.
