ANC wins uMhlathuze ward 9 by-election
No problems experienced in uMhlathuze by-election

THE ANC has won the highly contested uMhlathuze ward 9 by-election yesterday.
ANC candidate Mandla Mdaka received 49% of the votes, retaining the ward for the party which was held by Cllr Erwin Palmer, who resigned mid-year.
IFP candidate Zonita Grobbelaar received 27,29%, Gugu Ntombela of the DA 16.14% percent and the EFF’s Silindile Zungu 1.13%. Independent candidate, Bonginkosi Majola, attracted 5.54% of the vote.
IEC King Cetshwayo supervisor, Stella Dlamini, said the by-election went smoothly and no irregularities were reported.
‘All parties which contested this by-election showed maturity and respected the code of conduct. We have not received any grievances or objections.’
