Help the SPCA fix its vehicle
The SPCA's GWM bakkie will cost R19 000 for the replacement of two windows, gearbox reconditioning, rear brakes and to cut out rust and respray affected areas
FOR the Richards Bay SPCA to carry out its crucial work tending to animal welfare cases and incidents, it needs a fully functioning vehicle but does not have the funds to carry out much-needed repairs.
The SPCA’s GWM bakkie will cost R19 000 for the replacement of two windows, gearbox reconditioning, rear brakes and to cut out rust and respray affected areas.
While the staff at Richards Bay Suspension and Service Centre have generously sponsored the cost of their labour and some materials towards repairs, the SPCA cannot cover the outstanding amount.
SPCA committee members have clubbed in and donated R5 000, leaving a R14 000 shortfall.
‘The bakkie has been off the road for more than two years, which has greatly hindered our operations,’ said SPCA manager Shelly Prinsloo.
‘With barely enough money to pay staff salaries on time each month, finding an extra R14 000 is simply impossible at this stage.
‘The generous Richards Bay community has always supported us and for that we are grateful, but we are appealing for help to fix our vehicle.’
With only one vehicle operating, the inspectors finish their work late into the evening and are at times unable to attend to incidents or complaints timeously.
‘With a second vehicle, we would get through our work much quicker and more efficiently.’
Businesses donating towards repairs can display their branding on the vehicle.
