Competition opens for local entrepreneurs

Enter the ZZCI Entrepreneur Competition

THE Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCCI) is calling experienced business figures to participate in its upcoming Entrepreneur Competition.

Hosted by all chambers in KwaZulu-Natal, mentorship is offered to the businesses of all entrants over a period of seven months, during which time the enterprises’ growth and development is monitored by judges.
‘It promotes creativity, which enables the competitors to think about their business differently, more innovatively and resourcefully,’ says ZCCI Executive Manager Charmayne Pountney.

‘The competition equips a group of entrepreneurs with a large skills-set that will empower them to reach greater levels of growth and sustainability in their businesses.
‘This will in turn put the entrepreneurs in a position where they will be able to make a bigger contribution to local economic development, growth and job creation.’

Cash prize money is applied according to the needs of the business outlined in the business plan developed during the initial few weeks of the competition with the assistance of professionals.
‘Candidates should have strong business adjudication skills, and be prepared to attend a total of seven days of training across the seven months of the competition as well as approximately 2 hours a month,’ says Pountney.

‘Mentors are also pivotal to the program and should have the following a proven track record of 15-20 years’ experience in business and have held a senior position for at least five years.’
