Police mobile centre suspends operation

The project has been running for two years and has had a positive impact.

RICHARDS BAY SAPS mobile Community Service Centre (CSC), stationed at Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre over the festive period will suspend its services this Friday.

The facility, which provided members of the public with convenient access to crime awareness information, reporting of cases as well as issuing affidavits and certification of documents, has been operational since the first week of December.

Richards Bay SAPS Communications officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira said the mobile centre was welcomed by shoppers, especially for affidavits and certifying documents.

‘Shoppers also visited the office to thank police for the initiative, encouraging them too keep up the good work and expressing appreciation for their efforts in making their services more easily available.’

Meanwhile, Shopping Centre PRO Angelique Wright said the project has been running for two years and it certainly had a positive impact.

‘Police worked hand in hand with our security staff to handle any incidents and the increased police foot patrols helped to deter criminal activity too,’ she said.
