Traditional healer addresses youth unemployment

THE only remedy to tackle poverty and crime is to create job opportunities for the youth.
Traditional healer, Sibonelo Nxele of Ncekwane Reserve under the Mzimela Tribal Authority, has made it his mission to create jobs for local unemployed youth.
‘I am a healer. I have prayed for many young people to get jobs. They leave their CVs with me so that I can pray for them to get work, but the main obstacle is that there are no job opportunities available to them,’ he said.
Nxele has helped many destitute families by providing them with proper houses.
‘But it hurts to see young people begging, especially girls. That makes them vulnerable. The same could be said of young men, who end up indulging in drug abuse.
To create some extra job opportunities, he has created a lifestyle centre with, among other facilities, a conference centre.
‘It won’t be a drinking spot as I don’t promote alcohol abuse, especially among the youth,’ Nxele said.
He challenged others to also do something constructive for the benefit of their communities, instead of simply blaming the government for the lack of job opportunities.
‘Government leaders have been encouraging everyone to come up with business ideas to help create jobs for others.
‘It pains me to see scores of young people loitering around aimlessly without anything to do for a living. I’m happy that my project has been endorsed by Inkosi Thanda Mzimela,’ he said.
