Stolen cattle recovered in Manguzi

Hluhluwe police unit commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hlongwane, said even though they impounded the cattle, they still need community assistance to identify the owner

HLUHLUWE police recovered about 20 cattle in the Myayise area in Manguzi last week during a crime sweep.

According to traditional leader of Myayise Reserve, Induna Mandla Tembe, they noticed a herd of cattle which were scattered all over, helping themselves to the community’s vegetable gardens.

‘We suspected that they may have been stolen elsewhere and we alerted the police.’

Hluhluwe police unit commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hlongwane, said even though they impounded the cattle, they still need community assistance to identify the owner.

‘These cattle have ear tags with the code ZAFQO5, followed by other numbers.

‘They have now been in the pound for a week, and if no one comes forward to claim them within 21 days, they will be auctioned,’ he said.

Hlongwane appealed to anyone who has missing cattle to contact his office on 035 5624318 or 082 4116614.
