Community bids farewell to young loving mother

The 35-year-old wife and mother of two who passed on two weeks ago following a short illness, will always be remembered as an inspirational, bubbly woman who showed love and compassion to all who crossed her path

THE sudden passing of Richards Bay’s Monique Vandayar has left the Zululand community heartbroken and shattered as they grapple to come to terms with the loss of a community woman known for her business ventures and involvement in the community.

The 35-year-old wife and mother of two who passed on two weeks ago following a short illness, will always be remembered as an inspirational, bubbly woman who showed love and compassion to all who crossed her path.

She was known as a ‘diva’ who had a passion for fashion, loved life and took every opportunity to celebrate everyone’s special moments, capturing every detail in a selfie.

At her final farewell celebration, family, friends and members of the community came out in numbers to pay their last respects and honour her memory.

Her husband Gary said his broken heart could not find the words to express what he was going through.

‘She was my life, my everything, the love of my life who taught me so many things in the years that we were together.

‘We knew each other for 19 years and would have been married 10 years in October; we had plans to be in the city of love in Paris to mark the celebration and she was overjoyed.

‘She always took a million pictures and now I cannot stop looking at them.

‘Monique showed love and care and individual attention to so many people and never had any selfish intentions; she always stood out in a crowd, was the life of the party and we complemented each other in our relationship in so many ways.

‘We prayed the most sincere prayers for restoration for her life, but God had another plan, to keep her as the beautiful angel she always was.

‘I pray for wisdom, peace and knowledge for our babies and family and I do not know if I can ever be even half the mom you were, but I will try my hardest,’ he said.

Her son, Breydon said there were no goodbyes, ‘wherever you are, mum, you will always be in my heart’.

‘Whether I am sad or not I will always love you, mummy’.

Her daughter, Peyton said her mum was the best and while she does not know what she will do without her, she has favourite memories of her mum always encouraging and supporting her.

Love for life

Her sisters Denise, Claudia and Rowena said they have fond memories of their loved one and while there will be one less sister smile in their photos, they are sure that she is brightening up heaven with her pearly whites.

‘There is one practice we learnt to do over this past month, and that is to pray! Day in and day out! We have had so many people come up to us and say they have never prayed so hard for someone before and we know our sister was loved by many.

‘We are sure everyone will hear about so many of Monique’s characteristics, but humour was our favourite.

‘Monique, our baby sister, we love you very much, distance will not change that.

‘We will miss you every day. We thank God that He allowed us to spend the most precious 35 years with you,’ said Claudia Naidoo.
